How to choose the right waterfall width for your pool
The width of your waterfall should match the wall it sits on — not the whole pool. Here's the simple rule of thumb installers use.
The most common mistake buyers make is sizing a waterfall to the pool instead of to the feature wall. A sheer descent or spillway looks best when it covers roughly two-thirds to the full width of the raised wall or bond beam it mounts on.
For a 12 ft raised wall, a 36–48 in spillway gives a balanced, intentional look. Going wider than the wall itself makes the sheet of water thin out and break apart before it hits the surface.
Flow rate matters as much as width. Sheer descents need about 10–15 gallons per minute per foot of width for a clean, unbroken sheet. Check your pump's curve before you pick a size — our waterfall advisor can match products to your pump automatically.
