Pool Waterfalls in Texas: Beat the Heat and Hard Water

Texas summers are long and much of the state has hard water. Choose a waterfall that stays clean and keeps the pool cooler.

From Houston to Dallas to San Antonio, Texas pools see long, hot seasons. A waterfall does more than look good here: moving water and evaporation help knock a few degrees off pool temperature in late summer.\n\nMuch of Texas has hard water, which leaves white scale on waterfall lips. Keep calcium hardness and pH in range, and pick features with smooth lips (acrylic sheer descents, stainless rain curtains) that wipe clean easily.\n\nHill Country and North Texas get the occasional hard freeze. Make sure your waterfall plumbing can drain, or keep the pump running on freeze protection during cold snaps.\n\nLarge Texas backyards suit wide features: consider 4 to 8 foot sheer descents or a pair of scuppers flanking a spa. Size the pump for the width, about 15 GPM per foot for a sheer descent.\n\nWe ship to every part of Texas; most kits install with standard pool plumbing.
